“To all women, to our dear comrades,
The last few years have once again shown us the importance of resistance and struggle against the systems that impose exploitation, misery and death on us. As we have seen during the Covid-19 pandemic, the patriarchal and capitalist system, with the help of the State, deepens its methods to deprive women, peoples, workers, peasants and day laborers of their right to life. Today, everywhere, we are confronted with war, occupation, violence, femicide, genocide and ecocide.
Although capitalist patriarchy claims that “there is no alternative” to this world of exploitation and injustice, this system is losing its legitimacy. To overcome its latest crisis, the system re-employs its fundamental pillars of fascism, nationalism, religionism, scientism, sexism and feudalism, leading to a state of war against society, women and the environment. However, those of us who struggle know that there are millions of us in every corner of the world, determined to build a different, more just world.
We know that there are paths beyond those presented to us as alternatives. As the revolution in Rojava/Northern and Eastern Syria has shown us over the last decade, it is possible to struggle and build a different political and social system, based on women’s autonomy in all spheres of life.
The struggles of our sisters in places like Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, the Philippines, Brazil and the United States show us that this century has the potential to be the century of women’s and peoples’ freedom. That it can become the era that will take our struggles from the local to the universal. Now is the time to weave our future together through common struggle!
Dear comrades, since our first conference in 2018, we have been weaving the future to create the World Women’s Democratic Confederalism. Our claim is big, but wherever we touch base, we have seen that this is a longing that can become a reality. We have also seen that we can go a long way only through continuous organizing. We must continue to share experiences and prepare for the new attacks of the patriarchal system on our bodies, our freedoms and our minds.
We must create paths, methods and perspectives that can match the conditions, qualities and needs of our time. In the face of the constant attacks of the patriarchal system, we must weave a lasting network of resistance and become active protagonists of the most urgent struggles of our time. At our 2nd conference, we want to pave the way for this process. From the content to the agenda, from the technicalities to the participants, we want to be in every detail of the preparations so that our activity is carried out in the spirit of collectivism and women’s solidarity.
It is with this motivation that we invite you and hope to see you at the II International Conference of our network: “Our Revolution: Liberating Life”.
